Books & Co is having a Summer Reading Program featuring the Junie B. Jones books. Children who read four of those books and present the booklet (which you can get in store) that has been signed by their parents will receive a free Junie B. Jones backpack. This seems like a Summer Reading Program more for older kids, but it still is a great way to get your kiddos reading this summer!

The newly renamed Disney Jr channel has a new show called Jake and the Neverland Pirates. I downloaded it already and it's really cute. There are two boy pirates, one girl pirate, a parrot and don't forget Captain Hook and Smee. They work together to tackle problems and find an answer. C likes to play dress up and after watching the show he promptly dressed up as a pirate. I forsee him asking me a to help him make a map in the near future. Because what is a pirate without a map? I grew up watching musicals with my Mom and really liked the cute little songs. I always like catchy little songs, so I see those getting stuck in my head! "Captain Hook and Smee are cute in their cluelessness and they help remind kids that life isn't always easy, and kids have to sometimes overcome problems.

So, while watching the show I immediately recognized Smee's voice. Did any one of you watch the old Disney cartoon where the bears are cleaning up trash in the park? "That's the way it's done, it's a lot of fun, putting papers in the bag." The park ranger is Smee's voice- now, this had nothing to do with the show but made me remember all the cartoons I loved when I was little. Disney really does do a good job of creating shows that kids love.

If you haven’t joined Disney Movie Rewards yet, then I would highly suggest doing so now! This is a great rewards program… especially if you love Disney movies and memorabilia. Basically every time you purchase a Disney DVD or go see a Disney movie at the movie theater you earn points. Once you’ve earned enough points, you can then redeem them for a reward! So I'm sad that there isn't a LEGO store near us. Well, there is one in Cincinnati, but to drive there every Tuesday just to snag a few free LEGO's isn't always worth the drive. You do have to put a minimum of $5 on the card, but we quickly and easily spend that at Target. Besides you can get the card and then use it to pay for any other items in a separate transaction.

You can also always subscribe to LEGO Club Magazine for a free 2 year subscription. This magazine is full of comics, games, puzzles, new products and many other fun things. Select your country on the far right of the page. If your LEGO fan is age 6 or under, you can sign up for LEGO Club Jr. Magazine instead. This magazine includes stories, games, simple models to build and more. Allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
