PinterestHave you been sucked into... I mean... found Pinterest yet? I have to seriously limit how much time I spend on that site or else my time is quickly wasted finding all the wonderful things that other people have pinned!

Maybe you've seen the pins on your friend's Facebook pages but wondered-what is Pinterest? Well, in their terms, "Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and share their favorite recipes." Umm, pretty much.. it's amazing! I love how you can see great things others have found or save ideas from other sites that you want to remember for later. Plus it gives you the ability to leave a little description of your pin. I like how it's literally a visual scrapbook of ideas, recipes and more.

Recently I decided to start a couple boards to keep all my fun ideas for Back To School lunches, freezer breakfasts and teacher gifts. Have you been using Pinterest? What types of things do you pin? If you aren't a member of Pinterest ask around on Facebook if your friends are members and ask them to send you an invite. If you are on Pinterest already feel free to come and join me there!

Rainbow FruitI decided that this week for Things I Love Thursday I wanted to try and bring a little bit springtime here. I love spring, the beautiful weather, the reminder of the new life that it brings, St Patrick's Day, Easter, my birthday.. there are lots of great things about spring in my book.

Well, I don't know about you but one of the best ways that I've found to get my boys to try something new is all in the presentation. The more exciting or fun that it looks the more likely they are to give it a try. Little B is Hand stealing fruitpretty picky about most foods- even fruit. So I was pretty pleased that he could barely keep his hand off the plate while I was trying to take pictures. Seriously how cute is his little hand stealing a grape just as I snapped the photo?!

Our rainbow snack was a fun healthy way to brighten up snack-time. I used red strawberries, orange oranges, a yellow banana, green apple, blue blueberries, purple grapes and a few gold coins for the gold at the end of our rainbow. And as soon as I told C and his buddy from school that was over that they could come and eat it was like three little vultures converging on the Boys eatingplate with silvery forks in hand.

Honestly, I can't wait until next year when C goes to school all day and I have to pack him lunches. How exciting will it be for him to have a rainbow packed in his lunch?

Now what are you waiting for? Go and "eat the rainbow" with your kids! Need some ideas? Here are a few to help get you started.

Things I Love ThursdayRed- red apple, red peppers

Orange- goldfish crackers, melon

Yellow- yellow pepper, pineapple

Green- kiwi, snap peas

Blue- blue corn chips

Purple- blackberries, cherries

If you make a rainbow snack for your kids I'd LOVE to hear how it goes! Or better yet, post a pic on Deals For Dayton's Facebook page! I'm linking up over at The Diaper Diaries for Things I love Thursday

Valentine BeeI'm so excited to be starting a new section here! I'm gonna be posting Playtime Projects to do together as a family here from time to time. I'd love to write a "crafty blog" but I don't have THAT many great crafty ideas so I figured that I'd share the ones that I do have on here with all my readers. So, I hope you enjoy!

Well, Valentine's Day is next Monday, and although store bought Valentines aren't that expensive I wanted to do something fun with C. Since he is in Kindergarten he needs to practice his fine motor skills anyway and I figured that this would be the perfect chance.

I started out begging... umm, I mean asking my hubby sweetly to make us a cute little bumblebee printable. We printed them on cream colored cardstock and got to work.

C got to cut them apart and then placed a heart shaped sticker on as the wings. We had several different types of heart stickers in our stash, but you could really make this however you wanted to with the wings.

Valentine Bee

I showed a few variations that we made just to give you an idea. And ta-da cute little bumblebee valentine cards for the class, easy, fun and cute. Plus you can even color them in if you want to make them a little more personalized.

Here are a couple different wing ideas:
-Two smaller sticker hearts
- Large heart sticker
-Foamie shape stickers (they are about $3 for a 90 stickers pack at Joann)
-Felt shape
-Stamp
-Color it in with markers, crayons or colored pencils

So what do you all think about my first craft post? I LOVE LOVE hearing from my readers.. so please show me some comment love. PLEASE! Did you make Valentine's Day cards with your kids this year? I'd love to hear what you made! Feel free to tell me here or share a picture of your masterpiece on our Facebook page.

Indian Corn- Whether  you decide to create a craft using corn or make something that looks like Indian corn you are bound to have some a-maizing fun! (Get it ah-maize-ing, corn, maize, haha!)

Corn Napkin Ring Rolls- Grab an empty toilet paper roll and some fall colored buttons. Glue them in rows to resemble Indian corn. When it's time to use the rings, roll up corn-husk-colored napkins. Insert one in each ring so that the end extends above the cob.

Corn Prints- Cut an ear of corn into 2 1/2-inch sections, with a kitchen knife if necessary. Attach plastic corn cob holders to the ends. Pour a few shades of fall colored paint onto paper plates. Roll the corn in the paint and then across a your "canvas." You can use sheets of paper, or fabric and create cute table decorations. Repeat, criss-crossing patterns and colors until completed.

If you are looking for other corn related crafts, try your hands at corn husk dolls.

Apple fun- There are so many things to do with apples. Grab a few and have some fun. Make some apple crafts, decorations, and don’t forget homemade applesauce.

APPLE PRINTS-Cut an apple in half from the top to bottom. Dip the cut side of the apple into paint and dab it on a paper towel to wipe off the excess paint. Then stamp it onto your paper. When the paint dries, use markers to outline the apple print. Try using larger sheets of paper for wrapping paper, or smaller ones to make fall cards.

APPLE POMANDERS-Grab an apple and a jar of cloves. Stud the apple with cloves by pushing the stems into the apple skin. You can cover the entire apple, make stripes, spirals, or any other design. Let your kids get creative. Tie a ribbon around the apple and suspend it in a room to create a wonderful scent.

APPLE TABLE DECORATIONS-Place a few apples in a bowl on the table. Voila, table decoration and quick healthy snack!

Have any fun apple crafts of your own? Let us know!
